B1 Marketing materials and design
As a starter to my marketing materials and promotion, I created a blog using googles “blogger”. I believe this is the best site to use when starting out with your career as it is owned by google so the site is highly protected, I also realised during the making of my blog it is extremely easy to use and a very simple website to get your head around and access. Another massive pro to using blogger is it is accessible on phones, which in this day and age is very useful as everyone is using a phone and if it isn’t accessible on phones people may not be very impressed or happy that they can only access on desktop applications. I also created a blogger so I could display my work and almost portfolio like content, so if any producers, fellow musicians, or potential fans want to have a little look into what I do and how I present myself they can see I have presented my material quite professionally.
One market material I saw as absolutely crucial to promotion and marketing is logos, I designed mine using https://www.freelogodesign.org/ as it was suggested to me by my teacher for this unit. I found it extremely useful and helpful when making my logo, I was able to personalise it to my own standard and was very happy with the overall outcome. It is important to have a logo and this is what you will be recognised on and has a very important role in a professional identity, bands that present this are along the lines of: rolling stones, their font and tongue logo is what they are recognised for, another being Nirvana, the logo being a wobbly face with crosses for eyes and tongue out are a main part to their brand and promotions.
An important this to be aware of and understand when entering the music industry is the copyright laws and copyright in general, the main thing to know and identify with copyright is, i retrieved the proper definition for copyright, it is: Copyright ownership gives the owner the exclusive right to use the work, with some exceptions. When a person creates an original work, fixed in a tangible medium, he or she automatically owns copyright to the work. I got this information from
What is copyright? - Legal Help (google.com) if someone uses an audio, lyrics or anything original to you, you can copyright them to protect the rights of your own individual work.
What is an epk?
An electronic press kit, more popularly known as an “EPK,” is a package of materials gathered and distributed to media outlets for promotional purposes.
What is feedback and why do we need it
We need feedback to
What is a survey
A survey is a form of feedback that allows you to get feedback from many different topics at once and is an effortless way to receive feedback when you don’t have much time. This is a helpful form of feedback as you could add thirty questions to a survey and get back 30 distinct aspects of feedback. The only downside to survey feedback is that you do not get incredibly detailed response, it is mainly either yes, no or I do not know, which overall would not be suitable if you needed serious feedback for something that was important.
